Cowie's Cows
& Ranch Buddies

Welcome to Cowie's Cows!Meet the Cowies, Daryana & Graeme

Two smart college grads with degrees in everything, but farming—and we run a 35-acre ranch just north of Elizabeth in Elbert County. Graeme, our resident Scotchman, has always had a soft spot for Scottish Highland Cattle, which now graze in the pasture.

We enjoy exploring how different breeds of animals may interact in a peaceful, serene setting. Our emus are already considered a local tourist attraction, and so are our hairy Scottish cows. The dogs that board with us get to see our ranch animals from a distance. We always get a kick out of the dogs’ reactions when they first see an animal they have never met before.

We Do Creative
Things Here

We’re not like your traditional, usual homestead. As we are newer to ranching we aren’t bound by long-standing family traditions. Our concept in farming and animal husbandry is that we are bringing species together that are unusual combinations. We breed rare chickens, we offer dog boarding with airport transfers, and we are raising our emu mob. Our emus will produce beautiful, dark teal eggs not only useful for breeding our own emus, but also great for cooking, and a special kind of art. In the future, we have plans for home-made goat cheese and other specialty products.

Scottish Heritage
& Humor

Scottish Heritage & Humor

At Cowie’s Cows, our founder Graeme brings a touch of Scotland to the heart of Elbert County. With a love for Scottish Highland Cattle and a penchant for Scottish humor, he keeps our spirits high during tough situations, and trust us when we say this, as we’re learning farming, we have plenty of those. We’re passionate about preserving Scottish heritage, from savoring traditional recipes like haggis and shortbread to visiting local Scottish festivals. You might find Graeme donning his kilt on special days. It’s all part of weaving Scottish traditions into our everyday life, making our farm a place where our family history and hilarity coexist beautifully. Slàinte!
